Bully Cops Ticket California Woman for Parking in Front of Her Own Home, ‘You Might Be the Only One NOT in Violation’

There’s no neighborly decency at this point

Have you ever experienced parking wars right outside your own house? If you live in a major city or highly-populated area, you’re likely to experience somebody parking in front of your home. And because it’s public parking, there’s little you can do about it. One California woman was astonished when she was given a parking warning in her small Los Angeles neighborhood. The reason? Her vehicle was parked in a way that they deemed unacceptable.

Phoenix (@phoenix_rose14) posted a TikTok video that claimed she was recently “harassed” by local police. Before Thanksgiving, she received a warning from the Simi Valley Police Department. They told her that she has an unusable vehicle parked in an area that violated local parking laws. Police told her that her vehicle must be vacated within 24 hours or it would be subject to towing. Unfortunately, her vehicle is currently out of commission and her neighbors parked in front of her and behind her so she was unable to move it anywhere.

When Phoenix shows where her vehicle is parked, it’s almost entirely in front of her own home. The vehicle in front of her, a white pickup truck, is parked in a way that completely blocks her mailbox. That alone is a violation, yet for some reason police didn’t issue them a ticket. Phoenix, confused, wonders why she can’t park along the sidewalk in front of her own home when everyone else can.

Phoenix even explained to police that she would love to park her dead vehicle next to her own driveway but she can’t due to the pickup truck. She asked them if they were violating any parking laws but police explained to her that it was only her. The officer actually said to her, “I only see a problem with the way you’re parked.” As commenters pointed out, it’s likely that her neighbor is the one who reported her to police. They may have taken issue to where she was parked and called the cops instead of talking to her expressly, which is petty.

One commenter pointed out on Phoenix’s video, “The truck is in violation for blocking your mailbox, the Scion is in violation for blocking a driveway, you might be the only one NOT in violation.” Another suggested, “Your neighbor is probably friends with the cop.” That’s typically how it works in small neighborhoods with unhappy neighbors, right?

So what options did Phoenix have, given she was forced to move her vehicle even though it no longer runs? In an update post, Phoenix says she waited until the white pickup truck vacated from the spot outside her house. Then, she put her vehicle in neutral and moved it four feet until it was next to her own driveway. Hopefully, this ends the parking dilemma and all the drama that came with it. But do police officers really have nothing better to do with their time? The girl was parked in front of her own home, for goodness’ sake.
