Bungie Has Finally Unveiled the Roadmap for Destiny 2: Renegades, and It Looks Quite Promising

A promising expansion

We’ve all been waiting for this. The content roadmap of Destiny 2: Renegades is finally here, and it is looking better than we thought. While the launch day of this new expansion is already full of things for Guardians to experience, the truth is that the future of the game looks promising because Bungie has learned from what worked in The Edge of Fate and what didn’t, and is now ready to put this shooter back on the right path. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the content calendar of Renegades.

Bungie Reveals a Huge Roadmap for Destiny 2: Renegades

In a lengthy, descriptive article, Bungie unveiled the roadmap for Destiny 2: Renegades, while also addressing some of the things that didn’t work in The Edge of Fate, which will be fixed soon.

The dev team starts by talking about how they wanted to go in a different direction for the recent expansion, but how “it was the wrong path for Destiny.” The focus on tedious grinding with little to no reward. But now, Bungie will focus on faster, better rewards, and more player agency when it comes to choosing an activity. Some of the changes coming to Renegades are as follows:

  • Wider access to Power progression, especially in Expansion content.
    • Players will be able to reach the Power cap directly through Renegades activities if they wish.
  • Seasonal Power and Featured Gear carry across Seasons.
    • All Exotic weapons and armor are now featured.
    • Additionally, we’re moving Power catch-up from a chest needing manual pickup to organic drops: sign in, play Renegades, catapult to 300 Power, and play with your friends.
  • Vault capacity and upgrades to ease collection pressure.
    • We have increased Vault capacity by an additional 300 slots to 1000, and we’re working on more.
    • In addition, the Vault now has a revamped filtering system to help find what you’re looking for faster.

As you can see, the studio is aiming to bring players to a higher power level fast, and without making the grind so tedious. Something the developers had already addressed.

There have also been many changes to Exotic Weapons, even some old, forgotten ones, which you can see in this article.

However, despite how necessary these changes are, Destiny 2: Renegades will also bring a lot of content and events, according to the roadmap. For instance, here are some of the events coming in the following months after the expansion’s launch:

  • The Dawning – December
    • Based on player feedback, we are returning to a 3-week duration for our larger seasonal events.
  • Arms Week – January
    • Our rotation of featured weapons continues with our next Arms Week focused on Bows, complete with new limited-time weapon mods.
  • Guardian Games – March
    • The return of our yearly Class competition with updates to rewards and theming.
  • Call to Arms (Mid-Season) – April
    • Our first Call to Arms has just started, but we’re already in the midst of planning a mid-season event for Renegades.

Iron Banner and Heavy Metal are still TBD, but it is great to see these two beloved events are also on the planning docket. Furthermore, you can see that the above events will also undergo some changes based on player feedback.

Overall, the road to Renegades is looking better with each passing day. Players have been very vocal since The Edge of Fate launched, and this new expansion is just what the game needed.
