An Airbnb owner in California has heard of bad renters, but she wasn’t expecting her property to be the victim of what she calls a bunch of “disrespectual people who don’t care about others’ things.” She then shows her audience the conditions the property was left in and dubs them the “worst Airbnb guests ever.”
On social media, user Janelle._.ivy shared the disastrous sight on her TikTok account. Although she’s heard of other Airbnb owners being hyperbolic about bad guests, she argues her viewers were “not ready.” Walking into the home, you immediately see garbage strewn about the place. Decorations were left behind, as well as an alarming number of alcohol containers. Some even made it into the potted plant at the front door.
Furniture was in disarray—shoved against walls, left as is and decorated with garbage and utensils. One of the worst parts was the coffee table, which had originally been topped with a glass surface. The glass tabletop had been shattered and left in the corner of the room.
Baffled, Janelle continues her tour, remarking on the lack of respect. She tells her audience, “They actually came here to ruin our house. Are you joking?” She finds a disgusting, half-eaten birthday cake celebrating somebody’s 24th birthday, with the name ‘Tania’ scrawled in fancy lettering.
Other damage Janelle reveals include broken blinds, blankets missing, and a broken bed. “I didn’t even show you the backyard, they stole so many of our things and to see my mom hurt and crying because of the damage is horrible,” Janelle wrote in the caption of her TikTok video.
To top it off, another guest had booked the property that same day. Before signing off, Janelle shows the faces of the people who left the Airbnb a mess as a warning.
California Reacts
Not only were viewers appalled by the way Janelle’s guest left her property, they shared their frustration in both informative and hilarious ways. In response to Tania, the woman whose name was on the cake, a commenter wrote, “Tania’s 25th birthday would be in prison cuz I’d be pressing charges & suing.”
Another commenter had the same feelings, arguing, “Nah at that point its felony vandalism.” To that, a viewer insisted on filing a “police report this is vandalism.”
One commenter wondered if this problem didn’t run deeper. “If they left your BNB like this I can only imagine how they have their actual home! This is disappointing.”
At this time, Janelle has not posted an update video on whether she’s pressing charges. However, given that extent of the damage, it’s safe to say a lawyer would have a field day.
