Some movie scenes are so memorable that everyone instantly recognizes the reference. One of the most famous is the Final Destination highway crash where a truck hauling logs triggers a massive accident. Ever since, countless drivers have tensed up whenever they find themselves behind a truck loaded with anything. Many people brush it off as irrational anxiety. But a recent incident in California proved those fears might not be so far-fetched. One driver came dangerously close to experiencing a real-life Final Destination moment.
The California driver shared a video of the moment he was following a truck loaded with wooden planks. Without warning, one of the planks slipped off, flew into the air, and slammed into his car. The situation had the potential to end very badly, but he walked away unharmed. The plank struck his windshield, yet he escaped without injury, unlike the frightening scenes in the movie. Feeling grateful, he added a caption to his video that read, “Thank you creator for keeping me safe and letting me go home to my family, Y’all be safe.”
People Reacting to What Happened to the California Driver
People were shocked by what happened to the California driver, especially because it showed that the Final Destination scene could happen to anyone. Since he was lucky to walk away unharmed, many viewers expressed their relief. One person wrote, “Holy Hell‼ That was way too close! Glad you’re ok.” Another person said, “That’s crazy! Glad you’re safe!” One woman even felt that the video validated her long-held fears. “I have anxiety about this every day. Thank you for providing me with a video to reference when people tell me I worry too much,” she commented. Another woman added, “You legit lived through our nightmares growing up.”
It turned out the California driver wasn’t the only one who almost found himself in a real-life Final Destination moment. A similar incident happened to another person who wrote, “I was traveling behind a construction vehicle with a water container, giggled to myself about it would be funny if the water cooler fell off… it did 5 seconds later, was not funny.” One woman also offered a reminder to all drivers, saying, “securing your load while driving a truck not only saves your stuff but could save someone’s life.” She’s absolutely right, and thankfully, this situation ended safely.
