A video was posted to the official profile of Steven Hilton on X that calls out the sewage and waste that is flowing freely into the Tijuana River in California from Mexico. The video gives a clear look at the state of the water and local facilities.
Commenters jumped into the replies below the video to share their frustrations, with many thanking Steve for showing them the video. Others are curious why there is no state of emergency being declared.
The video above was posted by Steve Hilton, a candidate for California governor, against Xavier Becerra. The British-born commentator is well known for his contributions to the Fox News Channel.
In the video, Hilton gets close enough to the border of Mexico to be able to see both the border wall and buildings on the other side. He then explains that the water that is flowing from Mexico into the Tijuana River is raw sewage.
The video’s caption reveals, “Raw sewage and toxic waste STILL flowing freely into our state from Mexico. Gavin Newsom has STILL not declared a state of emergency, as local leaders demand. It is completely unacceptable. As governor I WILL declare a state of emergency so we can bring an end to this scandal.”
What seems to be the most important aspect of the video is the call for Gavin Newsom to declare a state of emergency.
He also explains that 13 miles up the same river is both Coronado and the Navy Seals Elite Training Center. This particular issue has been addressed before, with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin signing a memorandum in July 2025 concerning the untreated raw sewage.
Reactions to Steve Hilton’s Addressing Tijuana River Pollution
Various commenters were shocked that the issue had yet to be addressed, with one person commenting with, “Hey @SteveHiltonx the navy seals train in these waters and more than 1100 have had severe gastro intestinal issues in recent years due to this runoff.
This is a national security issue!! Meanwhile Newsom has been seen wine-ing and dining with the Mexican president while she commits chemical warfare against our troops. Please save us.”
Other comments were also concerned about Lee Zeldin’s memorandum, with another person writing, “Nice to see you keeping this issue at the forefront Steve! What happened with
@epaleezeldin’s Federal deal with Mexico to solve the pollution issue from the Tijuana River? Mexico supposedly signed an agreement with the United States to stop this pollution into San Diego. 🤔.”
The video is still continuing to gain traction, and more commenters are leaving their frustrations and opinions behind in the comments.
