California Governor Gavin Newsom announced on X that he signed legislation to expand K-12 special education funding by 43%, adding $2.4 billion for public schools statewide. Reactions Mount to Governor’s Special Ed Expansion Announcement

Some users supported the announcement, with one writing, “Good! Well done.” 

Others were critical of the move and its potential impact. One stated, “Students get dumber, teachers’ unions get richer. Eff you, *expletive*.” 

Another wrote, “WORST SCHOOL SYSTEM IN THE COUNTRY! WE HAVE TO SEND OUR CHILDREN TO PRIVATE SCHOOLS!” 

Additional responses focused on how the funds would be used, with one commenter explaining, “The 2.4 billion will be spent as follows: 2.39 billion to enrich administrators and teachers unions who will then donate part of that money to ACTBlue and my campaign funds. .1 billion to possibly go towards helping disabled children.” 

A further user described it as “Another multi-billion-dollar scam by the Fraud King. Anybody who thinks this money is going to the kids is an unequivocal *expletive*.”
