It can be fine to find a good parking spot, especially if you live in a crowded district of the Bay Area. However, everyone likely would agree that standing in a parking space doesn’t give you the right to the spot any more than anyone else. Yet, that’s exactly what a random woman decided to do in the parking lot at Serramonte Center in California. The woman allegedly stood there on the phone for almost 20 minutes, waiting for her friend to park in the spot while traffic piled up in the lot.
According to the original TikTok user who posted the video, “She was not moving and she was acting like she doesn’t understand English,” which makes the situation all the more infuriating. “The problem is, if you pull into the spot and she actually gets out of the way, you know 100% she’s going to mess with your car,” remarked a Redditor. One person argued that there is probably plenty of room to park in the back of the parking lot. However, “people will fight for a spot as close to the door as possible. Like you won’t die if you have to walk an extra 50 steps.”
“I HATE WHEN PEOPLE DO THIS,” exclaimed another commenter. “Second only to people who randomly pull in front of doors. Just park and WALK.” Plenty, plenty of users claimed that they would lay the law of the land on that woman by honking so much she’d go deaf. However, in the TikTok post, it’s clear that other drivers were probably too preoccupied with other things and just found the woman mildly annoying, as none made a big deal out of it.
Lucky for her, the Karen “parking spouse” got what she wanted in the end: a parking spot for her friend. However, the grand majority overwhelmingly agreed that publicly embarrassing yourself, forcing a handful of other people to wait, and pretending not to speak English aren’t worth the effort for some parking space.
