A California woman recording her workout never expected another gym member to interrupt her mid-set and demand the machine. What followed was an awkward confrontation that left viewers praising the TikToker’s calm response while criticizing the impatient gymgoer.
Posted by TikToker Jenna.fitness, Jenna had been recording herself exercising on one of the workout machines when a woman walked over with the attitude of a Karen and asked, “Excuse me, are you almost done?” Jenna tells her she’s in the middle of her reps and, in fact, had just started.
The woman insisted she’d been waiting for around 10 minutes and accused Jenna of taking too long. Jenna repeatedly told her she had only just started using the machine, but the woman continued asking to jump in for “just two minutes” because she wanted to leave.
Jenna then tells the woman it’s going to take her about “five minutes” to finish her rep. But this isn’t good enough for the woman, who tells Jenna, “I don’t have five minutes. Can you just let me on the machine real quick?” She adds, “I just want to use it so I can go home.”
At this point, the pair begins arguing back and forth. The lady tries to convince Jenna she won’t be long—bouncing between “two minutes” and “five minutes.” So it’s okay to make someone else wait five minutes but not herself?
Jenna does try to diffuse the confrontation by offering the gymgoer a fun solution: Why not work out together? After all, if they’re both heading home after their next workout, they can finish their reps at the same time.
Viewers Say the California Gym Member Was Completely Out of Line
Thousands of comments were left on Jenna’s TikTok video, many of which insisted she handled the confrontation well but was too nice. Others shared hilarious responses as to how they would’ve dealt with the entitled Karen.
“Responding to her by saying ‘me too’ was actually iconic,” one TikTok user wrote, commenting on Jenna’s response in her video. The lady tried to tell Jenna she was heading home after her next workout. Jenna responded with a “Me too.”
Some viewers joked they’d be even pettier than Jenna. One commenter wrote, “I would die on that machine and never leave it,” while another said they’d “take the bolts out” just to clean and grease the machine, making the woman wait even longer.
Others ripped on the gymgoer’s choice of clothing, with one commenter asking, “Why is she in the gym in business casual?” This got mixed responses, with some saying they saw weirder outfits at the gym. Others pointed out Jenna herself was even wearing sandals.
For many viewers, the confrontation served as another reminder that even something as simple as waiting for gym equipment can turn into an internet-famous Karen moment.
