A man fishing with his buddy in Northern California was about to get the full Karen treatment over his music. Fortunately for him, his charm worked, and he managed to defuse the angry woman before things went nuclear. He has now been labeled as “The Karen Whisperer.”
The interaction was recorded and uploaded to TikTok by user patrickwayne555 (Patrick). He was relaxing with his friend in the open, listening to music and engaging in some innocent fishing. However, Patrick eventually encountered a “Karen in the wild.”
While what the California Karen was saying was initially unintelligible, given the music, Patrick immediately complimented her flowers, dealing the first blow to de-escalate the situation.
“I love your flowers, those are beautiful,” Patrick told the woman. He then asked his friend to turn the music off, which he eventually did.
The Karen, according to Patrick, was “cussing mad” that he and his buddy scared her birds. She was also triggered by the fact that they were not wearing any life jackets, which, according to them, are not mandatory in that specific instance. Moreover, Patrick called them “uncomfortable” and “hot.”
The back-and-forth between the men and the Karen continued to de-escalate as the woman confided that her flowers were actually fake. According to her, real flowers are “too much work.” Despite the revelation, Patrick insisted that they were pretty, further buttering up the angry woman.

Patrick ended up apologizing for scaring her birds and wished the woman a “blessed day.” He then smiled to the camera and noted that the California Karen had originally cussed at his buddy. However, thanks to his infectious smile and his friendly, flower remarks, he managed to defuse a time bomb.
“That’s how you deal with a Karen. You show them love,” Patrick said before the video ended.
Many in the comments praised the man, who appears to have infinite patience and kindness, some labeling him “The Karen Whisperer.” Some others straight-up loved his smile.
