The divorce filing was the expected ending. The podcast firing its own namesake, and the internet’s most infamous cheating-scandal alumnus weighing in, were not.
The California filing landed Sunday, per Page Six, with Hila Klein retaining celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser to end her 14-year marriage to H3 Podcast co-host Ethan Klein, two weeks after she accused him of a months-long affair in a statement that broke the creator economy’s longest-running power couple in a single post.
The paperwork tells its own quiet story. The documents list the separation date as October 13, three days after what would have been their 14th wedding anniversary. She seeks joint custody of their three sons, ages 2 to 7, spousal support, legal fees, and the restoration of her maiden name, Hacmon.
The accusation that started it came October 23, on her Instagram, in her own words: “I am living in a nightmare I can’t wake up from. My husband has been having an affair.” By her account, she sensed something was wrong, got dismissive answers, and watched the story shift once he was caught: “‘It was just a kiss’ became ‘it was emotional cheating.’” The affair, she said, had run more than six months. The other person has not been named, by her or anyone.
Then came the part nobody scripts. H3, the show that carries his initials, issued a statement condemning Ethan’s actions and backing Hila, and the team announced it would no longer work with him. A podcast built around one man’s voice publicly cut the man.
The pile-in crossed every border of the creator world. Hasan Piker weighed in. Hila’s brother, Moses Hacmon, addressed the family wreckage on his wife Trisha Paytas’ podcast. And Ned Fulmer, the Try Guys alum whose own 2022 cheating scandal invented this exact playbook, surfaced in the discourse, a cameo the internet received with disbelief.
Ethan, 41, has issued no public statement in the record. His admission exists only inside Hila’s telling, and his silence has now outlasted the accusation, the mutiny, and the filing.
The stakes run past the marriage. H3 is one of YouTube’s longest-running podcast institutions and Hila’s Teddy Fresh is an empire of its own. The divorce splits a household. The mutiny splits a company.
The Fans Chose a Side Before the Lawyers Did
The H3 audience spent two weeks processing the collapse in real time, and the filing turned mourning into verdict season. The loudest cheer was for her choice of counsel: “SHE PICKED LAURA WASSER! HE’S [Expletive].” The most measured voice respected the shape of it: “No reconciliation, no compromise, straight to divorce. Respect it, honestly. He made his choice, she’s making hers.” The analysts asked the company question: “They spent a decade building an internet empire together. Now the biggest question is whether H3 can survive without one of its founders.” And the joke corner named the era: “New character in the MCU leaked. Dr. Estranged.“
She asked for her name back. The show, apparently, is keeping his initials and nothing else.
