California Rep. Ro Khanna Faces Mockery After Vowing to Haul DOGE Officials and ICE Before Oversight: ‘Is It All Revenge for Losing in 2024?’

Oversight or score-settling?

Rep. Ro Khanna of California said in an X post that if Democrats take back the House, Oversight hearings under Rep. Robert Garcia would bring in DOGE officials, ICE officers, and prosecutors he described as seeking political revenge. According to the post, he framed the midterms as a vote for “accountability.” Online users reacted after the clip circulated, with many criticizing the pledge as payback for 2024 rather than routine oversight.

When we take back the house, @RobertGarcia’s leadership on Oversight will bring before our committee DOGE officials who took away food & medicine from the poorest, ICE officers who killed innocents, & rogue prosecutors seeking revenge against political enemies.

The video from MS NOW’s “All In with Chris Hayes” shows a split-screen interview between host Chris Hayes and Khanna, then cuts to Khanna speaking on camera. In the clip, he says that when Democrats “take back the House,” Rep. Robert Garcia’s “leadership on Oversight will bring before our committee DOGE officials who took away food & medicine from the poorest, ICE officers who killed innocents, & rogue prosecutors seeking revenge against political enemies.” He adds, “We will have accountability. That’s what these Midterms are about.”

On-screen text identifies Khanna as a California Democrat. A separate headline in the clip refers to Joseph DiGenova leaving a “grand conspiracy” case. The footage does not show what Hayes asked immediately before the excerpt, and it does not present evidence for the claims about DOGE officials, ICE officers, or prosecutors.

Those lines also appear in Khanna’s caption. According to the post, Garcia would lead the hearings if Democrats win the House. The clip itself does not confirm that outcome or the specific allegations.

Accountability or Payback? How X Users Read Khanna’s Oversight Vow

A smaller group of users supported the call. One wrote, “Ro gets it! We do not just need Democrats to stop the damage. We need accountability for the people who caused it. This is not revenge. It is the rule of law.”

Another said, “Got my popcorn ready. I can’t wait to see these people held accountable.”

Many others treated the remarks as payback. One asked, “Do you have any plans of action that will increase Americans’ prosperity or is it all revenge for losing in 2024?” Another replied, “You didn’t name a statute, a vote, or a crime. You named targets,” and said winning the House “doesn’t make your opponents criminals.”

Several commenters focused on DOGE and fraud. One wrote, “DOGE stopped the fraud.” Another asked, “When do we get accountability for the FRAUD your party helped create?” A third argued, “Doge finds incredible fraud, and democrats rush to restore funding.”

Others dismissed the premise that Democrats would take the House. One commenter wrote, “Democrats are never taking power.”

For now, the clip has become part of the wider midterm debate over what House oversight would look like if Democrats win. Online critics, however, remain focused on whether Khanna’s call is accountability or payback after 2024.
