A California couple recently caught their DoorDash driver eating the meal they had ordered after noticing suspicious delays on the app. The woman explained on TikTok that she and her boyfriend were watching their order’s location when they saw the driver park outside a dental office and sit for nearly 20 minutes.
During that time, the estimated delivery kept getting pushed back, and the calls and texts they sent to the driver went unanswered. Growing suspicious, the couple decided to drive to the spot themselves. As they were on their way, the order was suddenly canceled with a note claiming “misconduct against dasher.” When they pulled up, they found the driver sitting in his car with their food.
The couple approached the vehicle and confronted the driver. “Hi. So you’re like sitting here eating my order. I spent $40 on that food… we were confused so we came,” the woman said. The DoorDash driver replied that he had “just spilled the drink on the food” and was waiting for DoorDash support to cancel the order. When she pressed him about the unanswered calls and texts, he said he “didn’t notice the call” and was “just tapping” to reach customer service.
The woman remained calm but pointed to the cup in his holder, which looked full, and noted that sauce was on his face. “It’s just hard to believe when you have like the sauce on your face and the cup is still like full right there,” she remarked. She also reminded him that he could have notified her about the accident. The driver again insisted that he tried to contact DoorDash and that food spills sometimes happen.
What Netizens Are Saying About the DoorDash Incident in California
A lot of viewers expressed frustration at what they saw. “Look at him chewing your order in your face,” one wrote. “Ooo my anger would’ve been so high,” a second added. Another person questioned why he was still on the platform, claiming he must have “done this before.”
Several people even doubted his explanation. One comment read, “So the food spilled…so you eat it.??” Someone else observed, “He claimed to call the boss but there isn’t a recent call only missed calls.” Another said, “I would’ve called him again while standing there to get his phone ringing on camera because that just further proves he ignored yalls calls.”
Others used the video to explain why they avoid food delivery altogether. “I never DoorDash food!! I don’t trust people bringing my food!!!” a person said. Another netizen added, “Sry but I don’t trust any person to bring food. If you can’t go and get it yourself then you need to buy groceries and make food yourself.”
