A woman in California celebrated her bridal shower with friends and family. That includes her lovely pig, who, due to schedule limitations, took the spotlight thanks to a tusk and hoof trimming session. Such a bizarre sight was met with laughter and confusion.
The woman in question is Mina Alali. She is a popular content creator who also runs the Merlin the Pig account, which, of course, features the pig. The clip attached above quickly went viral, garnering 4.6 million views, 626,200 likes, and more than 4,100 comments.
The California woman detailed that her mother and sister hosted a bridal shower for her. Her family and friends were invited, as well as Merlin. The pig’s presence was easily explained: his tusks and hooves were to be trimmed.
One could argue that a bridal shower might not be the best place for such a procedure. Mina, however, explained that the trimmers, based in SoCal, were only in NorCal for just a few days. Their only available time slot coincided with her bridal shower.
Squealing Show
And once the trimmers arrived, they got to work pretty fast. One of them grabbed Merlin from behind, and he immediately began to squeal. Mina clarified that this process is not hurtful, but that pigs often dislike being on their backs and are “quite dramatic.”
Immobilized, the trimming began. With squeals potentially reaching up to 115 decibels, the trimmers used nippers for his hooves and a Gigli saw for his tusks.
“Merlin, it’s okay,” the California woman told Merlin, who kept on squealing. “You’ll get a treat afterwards.”
In total, the trimming session ended in about five minutes. And Mina delivered her promise: Merlin feasted on some carrots.

The trimming sparked multiple responses, some from viewers who were genuinely confused about what they had seen and where it took place. One asked, “You guys couldn’t do this outside?” Another one said, “This is hilarious. Why did you decide to do this horror activity at your bridal shower?“
Others were a bit more open to the idea, and even found it hilarious. One wrote, “This is the craziest bridal shower activity I’ve seen.” Another one added, sarcastically, “Thank goodness he didn’t overreact.”
With trimmed hooves and tusks, Merlin is ready to keep stealing the hearts of millions all around the world. Hopefully, the next trimming doesn’t happen in the middle of Mina’s wedding.
