Call of Duty Gives Players What They Need To Face Off Against Cheaters

Just a small remedy

The developers at Treyarch and Raven Software have spoken through what is called a “Community Update.” Many of the issues that have been highlighted by the fans in the past months are addressed in this blog post, and it seems like we’re finally able to limit the cheaters’ access to our lobbies in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone via a new crossplay feature.

So one of the most important issues with Call of Duty is cheating and the numerous hackers in its games. And among all the recent CoD entries, Black Ops 6 has reached new heights in terms of housing hackers in the Ranked Play. The ultimate solution to this issue is if Activision loosens its pocket a bit and buys a better anti-cheat, but unfortunately, that’s not the case.

Many believe that the cheaters we see in Warzone and Black Ops 6 are mostly PC users since, well, you can deploy several 3rd party apps and cheats on that platform. In that sense, I’ve seen comments on Reddit communities and under CoD‘s social media posts that players want to turn off the crossplay feature in Black Ops 6 and Warzone so that PC users can’t get to their lobbies.

Now as much as I like this change, I feel like it’s just a sleeping pill to forget what’s happening here. Firstly, there are cheaters using hardware for aimbot on the console as well, so turning off the crossplay won’t solve the main issue with the Black Ops 6 and Warzone cheaters. Secondly, it’s been mentioned that Ricochet is developing new methods to block cheaters and have banned a large number of them, but I’ve encountered a few right before writing this post in Call of Duty: Warzone Ranked Play. When are you going to see a change in that?

So, while it’s so good to see that the developers and teams at Treyarch, Raven, or whoever is in charge of these changes are overseeing our demands, it’d be better if they actually resolve the problem. For example, Warzone servers have low tick rates which don’t match the game’s speed resulting in hitreg issues. Do they change the servers? No, but they have addressed the packet loss problems and stated that they’re working on it.

It’s the taste of they give us what we want but at the same time, they just don’t. Accordingly, many of these changes are now live with further bug fixes and updates coming with Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 2 on January 28, 2025.

Amir is an absolute Call of Duty nerd, preferring shooter games more than everything. However, he does like to do uppercuts in Mortal Kombat and feel the NOS going through the engines in Need For Speed games.
