Activision has fully revealed the new Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Vondel map. This map is a new addition coming with Season 4, changing the flow for the Resurgence mode. This map will be an addition to the game rather than replacing any of the existing maps. But how does it compare to the two existing Warzone 2 maps regarding size and player counts? Here’s everything you need to know about Warzone 2 new map, Vondel.
Welcome to Warzone 2 New Map: Vondel
Warzone 2 new map got revealed during the Summer Game Fest 2023. A trailer was released for this map, focusing on its details and areas. Vondel was something that fans had heard rumors about in the previous weeks.
This is a new change of pace for Call of Duty: Warzone, as we had fewer maps within a year for the previous title. Now in only four Seasons, we got Al-Mazrah, Ashika Island, Vondel, and some areas like the Koschei Complex and Building 21 for DMZ only. But how Vondel differs from the other Warzone 2 maps already in the game?
Vondel’s Size Comparison To Other Warzone Maps
Compared to Warzone 2’s main and first map, Al-Mazrah, Vondel is relatively smaller. Al-Mazrah takes 150 players in and runs by 7,095,838m^2 in size. Now while there are no specific details on the Vondel map’s size, it would take 72 players in, making it half the Al-Mazrah. But does it make Vondel half the Al-Mazrah in size as well? No.
The resurgence maps in Call of Duty Warzone and Warzone 2 are much smaller than the battle royale maps. For example, Verdansk is the smallest Call of Duty battle royale map, running 5,835,157m^2 by size. While the biggest resurgence map of Call of Duty, Fortunes Keep, only runs by 240,790m^2!
Warzone 2 Vondel is probably the same size as Fortunes Keep, or particularly a bit larger. But it would never be compared to the dimensions of the battle royal maps. However, you’ll also be able to play the battle royale mode on this map after the Season 4 Reloaded update.
Vondel Locations and POIs
The new Warzone 2 resurgence map differs greatly from what we have seen in Al-Mazrah and Ashika Island. And that is not because of the size, but the buildings and the design of Vondel.
Al-Mazrah and Ashika Island are not so reliant on buildings across the map. Maybe only Al-Mazrah City has the type of Verdansk feeling to it. But with Vondel, we see that almost every POI on this map is filled with buildings and covering structures. The only open area on this map is the Castle, which looks slightly different.
On top, there’s the Rivenburg University section, a huge structure with what looks like a yard on its front. Then we have the City Hall with the same look. Next, we have the Central Station, which looks like the Express map from the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Multiplayer.
Then you’ll see more open areas in the Mall section of the Vondel. To the left, you’ll find a dense area filled with structures of the Graveyard. And the same-looking POI is seen in the Fire Department area. However, the Stadium is probably the most important section of this new Warzone 2 map that has taken the most attention. This is a field with many obstacles in it.

However, there’s also a location in the Warzone 2 Vondel map called the Floating District. This area is built on the water, and the operators can swim under some of them! This changes a lot of gameplay, especially in the final safe zone battles, and we need to wait until this new map’s release to see how it turns out.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Season 4 will start on June 16. Warzone 2 is playable now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
