Let’s face it: some Pokemon stink. No, not Magikarp: Stunky. Stinking is this skunk’s whole deal as a Poison- and Dark-type, so we won’t be shocked if you haven’t collected this pungent Pokemon. Stunky has been in Pokemon Go since 2018, but it often gets outshone by other Pokemon that share its type. Although it took some time to join the game, Shiny Stunky is now available for trainers to pursue and catch. Whether you’re trying to create the ultimate Shiny Poison team or just think the stink is worth the effort, here’s what you need to know about getting Shiny Stunky in Pokemon Go.
Getting Shiny Stunky in Pokemon Go

You can get Shiny Stunky in Pokemon Go, and it’s a lot easier than snagging a Shiny Raid boss. As usual, however, Shiny Pokemon show up far less frequently than their normal counterparts. You can check if a Pokemon is Shiny by tapping on it to take a look at its colors on the Battle / Catch Screen, so the Stunky of your dreams will be easy to identify once you’ve tracked it down. Here are some tips for finding and beating Shiny Stunky in Pokemon GO:
- Use Incense, Lure Modules, and Weather Boost to boost spawn rates
- Stunky prefers cloudy and foggy weather
- Stunky is a Poison/Dark-type Pokemon, making it weak to Ground
- Stunky is resistant to Psychic, Poison, Ghost, Grass, and Dark
- Some of the best Pokemon you can use to take down a Shiny Stunky include Landorus (Therian), Excadrill, Mamoswine, Rhyperior, and Garchomp
Finding a Shiny Stunky tends to be harder than defeating the smelly fella, but that’s no reason to let your guard down. Letting Shiny Pokemon scamper free because you failed to consider its weaknesses? Never fun. With a couple of strong Ground-type Pokemon, however, you should be able to capture Stunky without a problem. Keep an eye out for events, too, as they often offer your best chance at catching a certain Shiny. There’s nothing smelly about that proposition.
