Some of the most fondly remembered games from the original Nintendo were Capcom’s Disney platformers. Capcom hopes to capitalize on some of the nostalgia with the upcoming Disney Afternoon Collection, a six-in-one package that includes the following:
- Ducktales
- Ducktales 2
- Chip ‘N Dale Rescue Rangers
- Chip ‘N Dale Rescue Rangers 2
- Darkwing Duck
- TaleSpin

In addition to updating the games for 1080p support, each title will also feature some bells and whistles to add some longevity. Some of the new ways to play include a Boss Rush mode, Time Attack, a rewind feature (so if you miss a critical jump for the fiftieth time in Ducktales, you can just rewind and try again), and a museum mode to get a look at things like concept art and some of the great music in each game.
Bringing back games like this, updated for modern TVs and systems, has proven to be a commercial success time and again. In addition, the nostalgia factor of the Ducktales TV reboot will help build some hype for the release of The Disney Afternoon Collection. I personally remember spending an inordinate amount of time playing Rescue Rangers as a child, and seeing that updated for modern technology has got all my bells ringing.
The Disney Afternoon Collection will release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 18th for $19.99. Conspicuously missing from the release lineup is the Nintendo Switch, considering that these games all originally appeared on the Nintendo Entertainment System. No word yet on if Capcom plans to bring this collection to the Switch at a later date.
