In an interview with Empire magazine, Carl Weathers revealed that The Mandalorian season 3 will feature more action than the two previous seasons. The actor will also return behind the camera to direct some of the next outings with Pedro Pascal’s bounty hunter, as he did by directing Chapter 12: The Siege in season 2.
“Oh there was a bit more [action], I think, in this one,” Carl Weathers said on The Mandalorian season 3. With a show that already has so much action, from galactic dogfighting to classic shootouts that have been seen throughout the history of Star Wars.
“Even though they’re different episodes, it’s not like typical episodic television – it’s not a whodunnit, it’s not a dark comedy, it’s not a procedural. It’s so many different things, and it’s action-adventure on top of that. As a director, you get a chance to exercise your talent, and also your ability to deliver in those different areas.”
Carl Weathers in The Mandalorian Season 3
In The Mandalorian, Carl Weathers plays Greef Karga, the leader of a group of bounty hunters and allies to the show’s protagonist. He earned his first major award nomination with a Primetime Emmy nomination for his role as the fan-favorite character. For the next season, it is unknown how many episodes he will star in or direct.
Not much is known about the next season of the Disney Plus Star Wars series. With its connection to The Book of Boba Fett, fans will have some idea of what is next for Mando and Grogu, or as many still like to call him, Baby Yoda.
The series has had big names throughout its two-season run. The Mandalorian stars Carl Weathers, Pascal, Giancarlo Esposito, and Gina Carano. Carano was fired from the series over social media posts that compared being a Republican to Jewish people in Nazi Germany. The series featured plenty of guest stars like Timothy Olyphant, Bill Burr, and Taika Waititi, who directed an episode and will go on to make his own Star Wars movie.
The Mandalorian season 3 goes into hyperdrive to Disney Plus sometime in February 2023. The previous two seasons are available on the streaming platform.
