Bone up on your trivia everyone, Cash Cab is returning to television after a four-year absence, originally running for 10 seasons (2005 – 2012). Discovery channel announced the show would be getting a reboot, with Lion USA returning to produce the project.

Alongside being a part of the original Cash Cab’s production, Lion USA has produced many well-known shows for multiple different affiliates (CBS, FOX, NBC), including Six Degrees of Murder, Money From Strangers, Restaurant Redemption and much more.

100,000 Pyramid is one of the many shows that’s recently been given a modernized reboot and is now hosted by Michael Strahan

Cash Cab is the latest in a string of game shows to be rebooted in the past couple of months. It joins The Gong Show Celebrities Family Feud and $100,000 Pyramid on the list of game shows receiving new deals.

The original Cash Cab found (somewhat) unwitting pass – as passengers went in with knowledge of conducting an interview at a specific time, but didn’t know it was the show – and tested their trivia knowledge while in route to their destination for prizes. If stumped they were allowed lifelines (pedestrians, texts, social media) as a means of answering the question.

To the dismay of many, Fan favorite and Emmy Award Winner Ben Bailey has not been confirmed to return as host

New episodes will feature a unique addition this time around, as random celebrities will be the drivers. At the moment it is unknown as to which celebrities will be appearing on the show, and a host has yet to be named either.

Steinberg’s resume includes a laundry list of comedy blockbusters including Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Mad About You. No exact release date for the show’s premiere has been slated as of yet, but it will return to Discovery later this year.
