Konami has announced the final four titles which will be featuring in the Castlevania Anniversary Collection. The post originated from PlayStation Blog website listing the rest of the titles. This includes Castlevania Bloodlines, Castlevania The Adventure, Castlevania Simon’s Quest, and Kid Dracula.
Fans of the Castlevania series will be pleased to see some of these newly released titles especially Castlevania Bloodlines and Boku Dracula Kun (Kid Dracula). Originally, for the Famicom console, Kid Dracula was created to be a parody of the series. The light-heartening music and shooting/RPG style added a quirky element. To compare to all other Castlevania games Kid Dracula seemed like the improbable choice for a title to be on the anniversary collection.
Castlevania Bloodlines was the first of the series to be out for the Sega Genesis and have the option to choose between two characters – John Morris and Eric Lecarde. It was also was one of the last to retain the original style of the earlier games such as Castlevania or Simon’s Quest.
Castlevania The Adventure was initially released for the original Gameboy in 1989. An oddly picked title Konami chose for the basic level design and standard gameplay this one certainly didn’t exactly stick out as one of the greatest.
Finally, Castlevania: Simon’s Quest where a horrible night to have a curse were some of the most dreaded words to read flashing across the screen. This was the second in the series for NES and one of the hardest games.
Konami has been celebrating their 50th anniversary with a bang this year by previously announcing Arcade Classic Anniversary (which is out today) Castlevania Anniversary Collection, and Contra Anniversary Collection. All of these game compilations contain box art gallery, featured titles, key person interviews, Castlevania research reports, and design archive.
Castlevania Anniversary Collection will be out on May 16th for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam for $19.99.
