It seems that ICE arrests are getting more severe as time passes by. With every passing day, we witness horrible scenes taking place all over the country. One recent scene took place inside a Manhattan federal courthouse. Chaos erupted there as about six ICE agents viciously tackled an innocent and helpless man to the ground. You can see in the video how they are using excessive force to push him to the ground. They then get on top of him to put him in handcuffs. Two agents would have been enough, but they decided to exaggerate. There was even one agent who held down the innocent man’s legs as if they were a danger to anyone.
You can hear the agents keep yelling, “Stop fighting! Stop resisting! Stop resisting!” as they arrest the man named Joaquin Rosario Espinal. The entire situation gets more terrible as you learn about new details. According to Daily News, a friend of Espinal shared that he was confused by what was happening. “He don’t even know what’s going on. He asked me, ‘Oh what happened?’ He didn’t even know because all of them weighing on him, throwing him on the floor. I didn’t have no time to say nothing.”
The publication also reported that Espinal wasn’t the only one to be viciously arrested. Apparently, the ICE agents arrested another innocent man who tried to stop them from attacking their victim. The guy was also pinned to the ground. He told the publication that he was a “citizen,” but that doesn’t seem to mean anything to ICE agents. Others started talking to the ICE agents as you can hear one woman saying, “He is not f**king resisting.” Someone also says, “That’s not necessary” in reference to the excessive force used by the agents.
People Reacting to the Vicious Manhattan Arrest
Just like what usually happens with any ICE arrest, citizens were upset over what they just saw taking place in Manhattan. One person felt disgust toward the agents as they wrote, “Working for ICE is genuinely repulsive. The most disgusting job on earth.” Someone tried to be optimistic as they believed that one day, ICE would face consequences for their actions. “Don’t worry. Eventually when this all falls apart we will have court trials and names and faces,” they wrote. Of course, many people didn’t share the same view. Another person called the agents “Nazis.” In addition to this, someone believed that these arrests were a great example of what fascism is. “Yes, this is fascism. Not ‘a bit like it’ – actually it. And it’s happening now, in your country,” they wrote.
Several people were also annoyed by the fact that some of the ICE agents were using masks. A Redditor wrote, “If they believe in what they are doing, why are they hiding their faces?”. One person also shared, “I don’t see a single indication that they are federal law enforcement anywhere. This was a blatant kidnapping and assault.” Since the arrest was unnecessarily vicious, someone believed that the whole thing was inhumane. “The inhumanity is astounding,” they wrote. The insults didn’t stop here and neither did the comparisons to Nazis. “F**king Nazi trash,” one person wrote. Someone else commented, “F**king vile and evil.” These horrible scenes shouldn’t be happening in the first place. I hope that one day all these ICE agents will face consequences for the crimes they are now committing.
