This truth was never more pronounced than in a recent robbery in Chicago, Illinois. Kevin Watson, 42, was in his neighborhood, recording himself on a livestream. In the video, which has since been widely shared on social media, you can hear him speaking in a cheerful tone. He wore dark sunglasses, and around his neck hung a large, eye-catching necklace. This very same necklace would tragically become the cause of his undoing.
After chatting for some time, Watson was suddenly startled by someone approaching from off-camera. He immediately raised his hands and said, “What’s up, bro?” the Chicago man was clearly trying to keep the situation calm and avoid escalating it, despite the fear that must have been rising inside him. Although it was not captured on camera, the person approaching him was actually holding a gun. Moments later, Watson was forcefully dragged outside by the robber.
“Hey, hold on!” the Chicago man shouted. There was a brief struggle off-screen, and then a sharp bang rang out. The video fell silent for several seconds as Watson’s voice could no longer be heard. Then came the sound of a revving engine, likely belonging to a car, as the suspected killer sped away from the scene.
Soon, voices began to emerge as neighbors realized what had just happened. One person shouted for someone to call the police. Others urged people nearby to press on the wound, likely trying to save Watson from bleeding out after being shot.
Unfortunately, Watson did not survive. As of now, police are still investigating the case and working to catch the murderer who killed a man in cold blood. The current belief is that the attacker’s motive was to steal the necklace Watson had been wearing, although authorities have not yet shared the suspect’s true motive with the public. Watson’s family is completely grief-stricken, describing him as a good man whose life was cut short just weeks before his birthday.
