Imagine dropping off your child for school and thinking of how his day would go only to never be able to see him again. This is the reality for a Chicago mother who was tragically killed by her baby daddy and his girlfriend. According to eyewitnesses, the mother dropped her son off at school, and that’s when the couple showed up. The two already planned to fight the innocent mother, named Romeca Meeks, as they jumped her. Apparently, her baby’s father held her in a headlock in front of the school. His girlfriend then pulled a gun out of her car and went up to her face and shot her. Police arrived at the horrific scene, and Meeks was transported to a hospital, but she was pronounced dead there.
What makes the whole situation with the Chicago mother even more heartbreaking is the fact that she wrote her son a note before dropping him off. This is the last thing she ever got to say to him. In a video shared of the crime scene, a woman was yelling at the man’s girlfriend saying, “You shot somebody.” The girlfriend then had the audacity to say, “I have a license to carry.” As if this means that it was okay for her to kill an innocent mother. What is even more infuriating is that the baby’s father was seen in the video with blood covering his hands. This makes it clear that he did, in fact, put Meeks in a headlock. Meeks’ friend also confirmed on Facebook that the baby’s father was involved. According to Fox32 Chicago, the girlfriend was taken into custody. Meeks’ life shouldn’t have ended like this.
People Reacting to the Chicago Mother’s Tragic Death
The way that the Chicago mother was killed left a lot of people in shock and they were angry as well. Since both the baby’s father and his girlfriend were involved, one person believed that the two should be arrested and not just the woman. “Crazy they both need to be in jail,” they wrote. Another person alleged that Meeks had a restraining order against her baby daddy. This made them write, “That girl has a restraining order on him… they were stalking her..” There is nothing that would justify her being killed. Someone else praised the woman who can be heard in the video telling the officers at the scene that the girlfriend hid her gun in a car. “The bystander calling out the lying and telling the cops where the gun was hidden…. Good Job. Thank you for speaking up,” they said.
Others pointed out how the Chicago victim’s “baby daddy” didn’t seem fazed at all. “How he so calm wth,” they wrote. This isn’t the way someone innocent would behave. One woman commented on the same thing as she said, “He just standing there like it’s nothing.” Someone else believed that this was because of jealousy. “Mind you this happened in front of a school! Jealousy is a scary thing‼” they said. Another person also thought of the mother’s son and how he was at school, not knowing that his mother had been killed. “The fact that the baby probably is hearing the sirens and doesn’t have a clue his mommy is not here anymore…..,” they wrote. The whole incident is heartbreaking. That kid would grow up without his mother knowing that his father was the one behind her death.
