It’s best not to test those who are desperate, especially DoorDash drivers. Breaking driving laws isn’t the only thing they dare to do to avoid delivering late. Well, this Chicago DoorDash driver definitely proved the point. He actually managed to enter O’Hare Airport in Illinois and parked right next to a United Airlines jet. How did he get there? He drove through a security gate at the southeast corner of the airport. While most people would know better than to drive straight onto the plane runways like that, this driver fully trusted his GPS and was determined to complete his mission of delivering the meal.

On the way, he even passed a private security guard stationed at a checkpoint. Although she admitted seeing the vehicle pass her post, she didn’t report the incident. The guard simply noted the vehicle was unfamiliar and closed the gate after it entered. But she didn’t think it was necessary to contact her supervisor.

The DoorDash driver finally parked next to the plane. His presence alarmed the baggage handlers, who then called Chicago police. Officers arrived about 10 minutes later. When they apprehended the driver, they found he was there to deliver food and even had a DoorDash receipt in his car. Seeing this, they let him go without issuing any citations.

But that’s not the end of the story. The Transportation Security Administration is now investigating the case. Meanwhile, the security guard who failed to inform her supervisor was fired and had her airport credentials revoked.

Many internet users found the incident both ridiculous and frustrating. One user pointed out the irony of passengers having to go through multiple security checks at the airport while a DoorDash driver could just drive straight onto the runway. The redditor wrote, “Okay, we as travelers have to practically strip at security checkpoints just to get close to, but not even airside yet, and this doofus gets free reign airside itself. So much for security!”

Others noted that while the security guard did make a serious mistake, firing her was not the right move. Another redditor commented, “The lady made a mistake at the gate. Odds are it was her boss, or poor training, or something else that is really to blame. Instead of working with her to understand the problem, maybe moving her to a less critical position for a while, they just fired her. It really feels like someone is covering their own mistake by punishing someone else.”
