Ever since Gene Wilder took a creepy boat ride down a chocolate river, candy factories have captured our imagination. You’d think we’d have more video games about these confectionary capers. For the most part, however, we don’t. Stardew developer ConcernedApe is crafting Haunted Chocolatier, but why wait? For those seeking a similar sweet treat, Chocolate Factory Simulator is now on Steam. If you’ve ever dreamed of baking up your own chocolate recipes in a steampunk factory, now’s the time to show that industrial kitchen what you’re made of. Those almonds won’t pulverize themselves.
Chocolate Factory Simulator Gets a Steam Release
Stardew mods can help with automation, but Chocolate Factory Simulator offers the true factory experience. It also features an automaton assistant named Nougat. That’s about all the reason I need to roll up my sleeves and start calculating cocoa ratios. Whereas Haunted Chocolatier looks like it will focus much more on the social side of things, CFS is all about factory operations. Pleasing the palates of picky customers won’t be easy, but you have a ton of ways to customize the perfect chocolates and the workshop they come from. Even the packaging and molds are yours to control.
Between learning new recipes, operating factory machines, and upgrading your robot assistant, Chocolate Factory Simulator gives enterprising chocolatiers plenty to do. The game’s 1st-person POV and immersive atmosphere also set it apart from what we’ve seen of Haunted Chocolatier so far. So does CFS‘s focus on the tactile mechanics of cooking. It’s not a 1:1 replica of either ConcernedApe’s past or future work. That’s a good thing. If the legion of farming games tells us anything, it’s that there are infinite creative directions you can take. Here’s hoping chocolate is the new tasty trend.
