Hollywood veteran Christina Applegate did not react well to Donald Trump‘s return to the White House. The actress went down an emotional spiral on X, wondering why people voted for him instead of Kamala Harris. In her first tweet, Applegate directed her anger at Trump’s supporters.
“Please unfollow me if you voted against female rights. Against disability rights. Yeah that. Unfollow me because what you did is unreal,” she wrote. Applegate claimed she did not want Trump’s supporters for followers. On that note, she declared she would shut down her account “because this is sick.” Her rants continued in a second tweet, noting she wasn’t the only one heartbroken by the election results.
The Samantha Who? actress claimed her daughter had cried because Trump’s administration might remove her rights as a woman. She doubled down on not needing followers who disagreed with her, imploring them to click the unfollow button. Naturally, her words sparked backlash, with one X user claiming her “type of energy” was why Harris lost the election race.
The official Chicks On The Right podcast page echoed similar sentiments. They unfollowed Applegate, arguing that she was “woefully misinformed.” But losing followers did not bother the entertainer who happily bid them goodbye. After clashing with more critics, Applegate eventually calmed down and apologized for her emotional reaction. She noted she was still “reeling and sobbing” but no longer angry about the election.
An X user advised her to embrace Trump’s victory positively. They noted it was unfortunate her team lost, but Americans, including Applegate, won in the long run. “You just don’t realize it yet,” the individual claimed.
Donald Trump Defeats Kamala Harris With Over 60 Electoral Votes
The 2024 presidential elections concluded with Trump’s impressive victory over Harris. Although many believed the pair were heading for a tight race, the Republican stole the lead overnight. Trump received over 290 electoral votes, earning him a return ticket to the White House. He is the first former president to return to office in over 130 years. He is also the oldest man ever elected to the role at 78.
Congratulations are already pouring in from other countries, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the UK’s Keir Starmer. However, the official presidential election results have not been confirmed. It could reportedly take days or weeks before the detailed election results are confirmed in every state. Until then, Trump is the president-elect while his running mate, JD Vance, becomes the vice-president-elect.
After the election, a process known as the Electoral College occurs to confirm the election results. Securing the electoral college votes helps one win the presidency and not just the backing of voters. States usually award all their electoral college votes to whoever wins the popular vote. This is confirmed after meetings on December 17, while the new US Congress meets on January 6. According to BBC, they count the electoral college votes and confirm the new president.
Will Joe Biden and Kamala Harris welcome Donald Trump and JD Vance to the White House with open arms?
