Wednesday actress Christina Ricci just concluded a major phase in her life as she finalized her divorce from her former husband, James Heerdegen. The divorce terms would see the exes divide their assets according to agreements reached during the legal proceedings. These terms also make provisions for their child’s custody arrangement.
Legal documents obtained by TMZ revealed that Christina would keep their house in San Fernando Valley, L.A. The former couple would split the proceeds from the sale of their New York City home.
Additionally, Christina Ricci would retain the residuals and royalties for her work after the divorce. Meanwhile, James Heerdegen would get a Subaru and all of his personal belongings. The film director is also entitled to a one-time payment of $187,687 from his ex-wife per court documents.
Christina Ricci And James Heerdegen Agree On Joint Custody After Divorce
Aside from their financial settlements, Christina Ricci and James Heerdegen would share joint legal and physical custody of their son, Freddie. However, the actress remains the primary custodian of the eight-year-old, giving her the power to make the tiebreaking call on issues regarding the child’s education, health, and other major decisions.
While the legal docs clarified that there was neither child nor spousal support, Christina Ricci would pay 100 percent of their son’s private school and medical expenses not covered by the health insurance plan.
Christina Ricci’s divorce from James has dragged on for years, leaving behind major financial implications. The 42-year-old actress filed for divorce from her ex in 2020 after seven years of marriage. Barely a year later, she obtained a restraining order against her son’s father, citing severe physical and emotional abuse.
That, too, came with its own fees, taking a toll on the Wednesday actress, who eventually flipped her prized handbag collection to make up her attorney’s fees and other expenses accrued in the divorce process. With that phase finally out of the way, Christina Ricci can forge ahead into a new progressive chapter with her current husband, Mark Hampton.
