Christopher Nolan is regarded as the man who revived the Batman movie franchise in 2005 with his blockbuster film, Batman Begins. The follow-ups in his trilogy, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, have also been critically and commercially successful, with the former being regarded as a cultural milestone in superhero movies.
Therefore, itโs no wonder the 50-year-old filmmaker is constantly asked for his opinion on new Batmen. Now, in a recent interview with ET, Nolan finally commented on Robert Pattinsonโs Batman.

โHaving worked with Rob, I can say with total confidence that he can do absolutely anything he sets his mind to,โ Nolan said. โAnd I could not be more excited to see what he does with Batman.โ
The director has recently worked with the Twilight star in his film Tenet, which was released to generally favourable reviews.
Nolan then went on to explain why he felt that Batman needed a reboot.
โOne of the first things I learned when we went to talk to the DC guys before Batman Begins,โ Nolan said, โis the character of Batman thrives on reinterpretation.โ
โEach generation creates its own version. Thatโs what keeps the legend so sort of fresh in a way.โ
Pattinson landed the role just as production was starting on Tenet. He has previously stated to IndieWire that he lied to Nolan about his screen test, to avoid any potential awkwardness. โI had to lie to Chris about having to go for a screen test โ I said I had a family emergency. And as soon as I said โitโs a family emergencyโ he said: โYouโre doing the Batman audition, arenโt you?โ
Nolan previously stated that they kept โa respectful silence around the issue until very near the end of the shootโ.
The Batman is due for release on October 1, 2021.
