Classic And Modern Controls in Street Fighter 6 are divided as new options for the gameplay. The Modern Controls setting gives you an advantage for using fewer buttons to perform the special attacks, while the Classic Control setting has better combos and even delivers more damage! Here are all the differences you should know about SF6 control settings.
Classic vs. Modern Controls in Street Fighter 6
Fighting games like Street Fighter, Tekken, and even Mortal Kombat have a unique approach to what a player can do with the characters’ move sets. It’s not like a shooter when you can only run, shoot, and slide. In a fighting game, a pro player can perform massive combos, while an average player may not be able to do so. And this always creates a huge gap between the pro players and beginners in these games. Some moves even require hours of practice to be executed once.
Mastering the professional moves of certain characters requires a lot of time and practice. And a beginner might be so overwhelmed when facing the amount of grind they need to improve. So, for this matter, the developers of SF6 have put a new mechanic in this game which helps a lot! The Modern Control Setting gives you the advantage you need if you haven’t played a fighting game before or if you’re new to Street Fighter.
Modern Controls Prepare You For An Easy Experience
SF6 lets you decide whether to play the old-fashioned way or just press one button to perform the special attacks. For example, you need to do a motion input to perform the Lightning Kicks of Chun-Li. But you can easily skip that by just pressing Y/Square and a single direction button. You can also perform combos by holding RT/R2 and tapping the other buttons. This is what Modern Controls have to offer.
With Modern Controls in Street Fighter 6, you’ll be able to perform many moves that require a lot of practice to master. But it has a huge downside to it. You do not get to have full control of your character’s moves. Some of the combos and moves can not even be performed while using the Modern Control option.
Classic Controls Rewards The Practices
Many OG players of the Street Fighter game series are showing their anger at the addition of Modern Controls in Street Fighter 6. But do the Classic Controls really put players at a huge disadvantage?
In fact, Classic Controls offer a huge advantage for those who practice. If you’re an average player of the Classic Controls, you may go toe to toe with a pro-MC user. But you can dominate a match if you practice the combos and move with the CC. There are moves and combos that you can only perform using the Classic Control, which can deal massive damage to your opponent.
Which Controls Scheme Should You Choose in Street Fighter 6?
As much as it is more pro-type to use the Classic Controls, you can’t deny the ease of use that the Modern Control option has to offer. This means that winning a match using any of these control mods requires time and practice, while each of them has some advantages. For combos and more special moves, Classic Controls is surely recommended. But for the usage of more special moves, it is definitely easier to have the Modern Controls.
