A video has surfaced on the social media platform X that features California Governor Gavin Newsom signing a new law, Senate Bill 73. According to the post that accompanied the video, the law allegedly “Prohibits law enforcement and armed personnel from guarding polling places.”

The video has sparked criticism and concerns from X users, who shared their frustrations in the comments below. Many of the comments center on a dislike of Newsom.

In the video above, Gavin Newsom can be heard saying, “So, I just signed a law to protect our elections, to make sure that we are conducting a fair, free election without fear of intimidation.“

The law that Newsom is talking about is Senate Bill 73, which tightens election security to prevent unwarranted police interference in ballot processing. According to the California Government website, which provides more details about the law, Senator Sabrina Cervantes said, “Senate Bill 73 is a direct response to efforts by officials in the Trump Administration and local elected leaders to undermine our democracy piece by piece.”

According to the video’s caption, this is being broken down as “ICE at polling places would deter illegals from going to vote. Democrats don’t want law enforcement to take ballots and investigate fraud. Electronic voting machines are rigging elections for Democrats so Newsom is making it illegal to check their records.”

However, the California Government website explains that the bill strengthens California law by prohibiting law enforcement or federal agents from unauthorized access, disruption, modification, or seizure of voter rolls, voter lists, or voting technology. It is punishable by a $1,000 fine, imprisonment for up to three years, or both.

Reactions to Gavin Newsom’s New California Bill Signed Into Law

Users took to the comments to share their frustration with Governor Newsom’s decision. One person wrote, “Good luck with that Newscum. Just wasting more taxpayers money. Have fun trying to tell Federal officers that they can’t do their job. Finally Greay Gavin tells the truth about how they cheat. 😆“

Another user wrote, “He does know that Federal election laws Trump his state mythical nonsense if it goes against Federal mandates right? Is his hair grease made of mercury and he’s losing his mind or is his coke cut with some hallucinogenic chemicals (imo)? He’s an absolute moron!“

Other comments put the blame on other parties, with another person writing, “He can’t make it any more obvious that he wants illegals to vote. PO💩” In the same vein, another user wrote, “Doesn’t he realize that that just makes him look more crooked/guilty?“

As the post continues to gain traction on X, more and more users are leaving their opinions and frustrations in the replies.
