On Monday, the legend became the 19th person to join the small elite league of winners after bagging an award at the Emmys. Shortly after Elton John won the Emmy Award, he took to his social media page to celebrate the milestone with an appreciation post. In no time, delighted fans flooded the comments section with congratulatory messages.
Elton John Becomes EGOT Winner
John has reached a milestone that many artists dream of achieving. On Monday, Elton John became an EGOT winner, joining an elite group of individuals who have received all four of the entertainment industry’s most prestigious awards — an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony. The 76-year-old bagged an Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) for his show Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium. Unfortunately, John was unavailable to receive his award due to a knee replacement surgery he recently underwent. However, the icon took to his Instagram page after the event to acknowledge the great feat.
“We won an Emmy and I am on cloud nine!! Receiving this recognition is a testament to the passion and dedication of everyone involved, and I am so deeply grateful,” John noted in the caption of his post.
He then proceeded to appreciate certain individuals, companies, and groups who contributed to his attaining the status. John didn’t forget to thank fans, friends, and collaborators who supported him throughout the years.
“Honored to have joined the hallowed ranks of EGOT winners, here’s to the joy of music and the magic it brings to our lives!” he finished.
Fans Shower Elton John With Congratulations
As expected, fans were thrilled that Elton John won an Emmy Award, and they took to the comments section to congratulate the singer.
“Congratulations. I’ve loved and supported all your music and concerts my entire life from 1972,” a fan wrote.
Another commented:
