Admittedly, some people are night owls and simply function efficiently after nightfall. But it doesn’t take much to wonder what possesses someone to perform the noisiest labor possible during others’ sleeping hours. And one unfortunate Connecticut couple had to deal with such an individual: a contracted town employee who agreed to leaf-blow the road at 12:45 am. Whether his work schedule was his decision or not, there should come a time when basic human decency should be considered. Blasting a leaf blower in a neighborhood in the middle of the night proves the worker was thinking otherwise.
“Ever been laying in bed and you hear someone outside do something and all you can say is ‘no [expletive way’?” exclaimed one of the neighborhood residents recording the contractor working the road with his leaf blower. “I couldn’t believe it. Why don’t they have a battery powered one 😭” he moaned. A few comments asked what the noise ordinances were for the area, to which OP replied that it’s a decent, quiet place to live. But since the leaf blower man was employed by the town itself, there was little he could do to stop the worker.
An incident happened like this several months ago, when a business had its employee working nearby, with their truck blasting music. “Some people are just ridiculously inconsiderate,” groaned OP. One commenter remarked on how wildly noisy leaf blowers can be: “It’s insane how loud leaf blowers are. I legit think when they were inventing them, someone said nah bro make it even louder.” If any piece of equipment were ideal enough to wake up an entire neighborhood street, then the leaf blower man had the perfect weapon of choice.
Luckily, in the end, the whole ordeal only lasted 15 minutes. Still, such an incident is more than enough to disturb one’s sleep, if not their stress levels. Hopefully, in the future, the Connecticut town decides not to have its contractors work long after nightfall, for the sake of the local residents.
