In 13 seconds, UFC featherweight Conor McGregor knocked out Jose Aldo to become the UFC Featherweight Champion. Also by doing this, McGregor earned the right to be on the box art next to Ronda Rousey for the UFC’s next video game, EA Sports UFC 2. To help promote the biggest featherweight championship fight in UFC history, EA and the UFC announced that the winner of this championship fight would join Ronda Rousey as the two fighters featured on the box art. McGregor joins a select club of fighters who have been featured such as former Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre, former Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and former Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva.
Known for his outspoken attitude, ability to promote a fight and crowd pleasing fighting style that includes 17 knockouts in 19 victories, McGregor has become a major draw with the UFC. His victory tonight and placement on the game box will only further his stardom and, as the UFC hopes for, exposes new fans of his exciting unorthodox style to the UFC brand.
EA Sports UFC 2 is slated for a Spring 2016 launch for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One systems.
