Since Charlie Kirk’s death, there has been considerable backlash directed at those who opposed Kirk. People have been getting fired from their jobs after conservatives doxxed them. College students are also being expelled all over the country. A recent example took place at Texas State University when a controversial Black student imitated Kirk’s death. The student attended a memorial event hosted by Turning Point USA. He then proceeded to reenact the assassination. In the video filmed of the situation, you can see the Black student hitting his neck repeatedly, which hints at where Kirk was shot. He then kept moving his body to the left as if he was showing the impact of the bullet that hit Kirk.

A Texas State University student who reenacted Charlie Kirk’s assassination at a memorial being held in his honor has been expelled and ‘is no longer’ affiliated with the school. Video shared on social media shows the unidentified man mocking and imitating Kirk’s death and spitting near people who were attending an on-campus memorial in San Marcos, Texas on Monday. After widespread backlash, TXST president Dr. Kelly Damphousse issued a statement confirming the school had tracked down the student involved and taken swift action against him. The Texas Black student continued his show as he stood in front of a statue at the memorial and hit his neck again. This time, though, he dropped to the ground and acted like he was dead. He told people gathered there, “Hi, my name is Charlie Kirk.” You could also hear him say, “f**k that n***a.” In the video, someone told the student, while he was walking away, that he was going to get expelled. This is precisely what happened. The university immediately identified the student and proceeded to expel him because of his actions. According to The Daily Mail, the university’s president, Dr. Kelly Damphousse, said in a statement, “The individual is no longer a student at TXST. I will not tolerate behavior that mocks, trivializes, or promotes violence on our campuses. It is antithetical to our TXST values.”

People Reacting to the Controversial Texas Black Student

People had a variety of reactions toward the Texas Black student, but not all of them were negative. Many people believed that what he did was protected free speech and that he shouldn’t have been expelled. “He got expelled over a joke?” one person asked. Another person believed that America has double standards since nothing happened to those who mocked George Floyd’s death. “Expelled for a joke is crazy. People mocked George Floyd when he passed away and they did nothing, this country is all about white supremacy,” they wrote. Someone else agreed and said, “but when it was ‘I can’t breathe’ nobody cared.” One person also brought up free speech as they said, “expelled for his freedom of speech.”

On the other hand, others criticized the Texas student for his actions. One person said, “Typical uneducated idiot‼” The insults didn’t stop there because another person wrote, “piece of shit.” There was also one who believed that it was wrong to mock someone’s death as she said, “i never liked charlie kirk but making fun of someone’s DEATH is never right..” Of course, since the student was Black, many decided to bring race into the conversation. One person mocked Floyd’s death in exchange and said, “i cant breath i cant breath.”

This made someone else reply, “and that’s exactly why he joked about kirk. Two can play that game.” Another person also said, “The west is cooked, kids joking over someone’s death/assassination and people calling it an ‘opinion’/ freedom of speech?” This definitely won’t be the last time something like this happens.
