Corey Feldman’s commitment to his truth hasn’t always won him friends in the entertainment industry. Throughout the years, the beloved child star has opened up about how growing up in Hollywood traumatized him. The Stand By Me actor recently looked back at an uncomfortable 2013 appearance on The View, where the legendary journalist, the late Barbara Walters, leveled a judgmental condemnation at him.
Barbara Walters Said Corey Feldman Was ‘Damaging An Entire Industry’
Corey Feldman’s accusations about pedophilia and predatory behavior in the entertainment industry are upsetting to many. However, Feldman has stood firm in his claims he and late friend and collaborator Corey Haim experienced this treatment. Speaking out during a 2013 appearance on The View, Feldman called out predators who are still working in the industry.
I’m saying that there were people that did this to both me and Corey, that are still working, they’re still out there, and they’re some of the richest, most powerful people in this business. And they do not want me saying what I’m saying right now.

Walters then asked the actor if he was asserting that “powerful people” are “pedophiles,” he agreed, to which she shut down.
“You’re damaging an entire industry,” she retorted. Feldman apologized, emphasizing he didn’t take what he was saying lightly.
The Actor Remembers The Moment Was ‘A Knife To The Heart’
Recently sitting down with Entertainment Weekly, Feldman said the moment was a blow to him as he tried to spread his truth.
It was like a knife in the heart. It was shocking to me that somebody who I admired so much and I looked up to so much could be so deaf and so just completely wrong and off base.

Today, Feldman says he wasn’t the only one made uncomfortable by the moment.
It very much gave everybody, I think, the feeling that she was either part of it or covering up for it, which is shocking and scary. I never got an apology. The only apology I’ve ever gotten is from a few Twitter followers who’ve said, we all want to apologize on her behalf for the fact that she never acknowledged you or apologized.

Feldman says that’s far from the only person who had a negative reaction to him speaking out. Still, he maintains the experiences he has outlined many times in recent years are authentic to what he and Haim experienced as children and teens in the industry.
