The Corsair Strafe RGB Cherry MX Silent Gaming Keyboard is a fairly high-end gaming keyboard. We recently had the chance to try it out along with the Corsair M65 Pro RGB FPS Gaming Mouse we recently reviewed and wanted to tell you about it.
First of all, let’s talk about what came in the box. The package contained the STRAFE RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with and ergonomic detachable wrist rest, FPS & MOBA keycap sets, keycap puller and a quick start guide.
The keyboard is made of a high-quality plastic with a matte-like finish that will help keep fingerprints from showing up as much as a glossy finish. The cord is fairly thick and not braided which was not a huge deal to me but some might prefer it to braided.
One of the things I really like about is the lighting under the keys. You can program it using the CUE IT UP software to be whatever color (or a variety of colors) you want it to be and you even have the capability to program it to do some really cool stuff. The software might take some time to learn which could be a downside for some users.
One of the most amazing features of this gaming keyboard that makes it different than the others is the Cherry MX Silent switches.
The Cherry MX Silent switch, according to Corsair, makes the sound of the keys 30% quieter than other gaming keyboards. I must admit this keyboard does sound much quieter than the gaming keyboards I have used in the past. It definitely made gaming a little more pleasant for me. Some might find the keys to be a little “mushy” and may not care for it, however, I didn’t find it to be a negative in my personal opinion.
The keyboard has some other really nice features such as a powered USB pass-through on the back for easy access to plug up a USB device. This comes in handy when you need to access USB port quickly.
The Corsair keyboard comes with easy-access multimedia keys, however, they are not stand-alone and share with the function keys. It depends on the user, but some may prefer the stand-alone keys.
Overall, this keyboard has the potential to make PC gaming even more enjoyable with the features and the “bells and whistles” without all the noise of keys clicking that you get with other models. It seems to have everything you could want in a keyboard and more! Of course, there are going to be things that we would change in almost anything we experience but overall, the pros outweighed the cons with the Corsair STRAFE RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard — Cherry MX Silent.
This keyboard is available directly from Corsair or at different retailers such as Amazon and Best Buy for approximately $150.
