The update for Counter-Strike 2 for 10/4/2023 has gone live, and the patch notes mainly focus on bug fixes and technical improvements. Counter-Strike 2 came out only a few days ago, and although it is not too dissimilar from the beta release, fans are mostly unhappy with the game. Not because the game itself is inherently disappointing, but because it has simply deleted CS:GO from the Steam store and taken its place.

People who have played the series for literally over a decade are right to be vocal about their disagreement with how Valve has done things this time around. It would have been far more palatable if Valve decided to treat CS:GO like CS 1.6, with people being able to play it whenever they want even after the sequelโ€™s release. Valve is hard at work at making CS2 the best it can be, and here is the complete list of patch notes for the 10/4/2023 update for Counter-Strike 2:

GRAPHICS

  • Removed Model / Texture Detail: Very High setting since it was identical to High. They used to differ by Texture Filtering Mode, but that’s a separate setting now

ANIMATION

  • Repositioned finger on AWP so it doesn’t look as long

MAPS

  • Various bug fixes and tweaks to Inferno, Anubis, Vertigo, Ancient, and Mirage

MISC

  • Various bug fixes and tweaks to stickers
  • Adjusted crosshair outline rendering for fractional values
  • Fixed a bug where disconnecting from and reconnecting to a match would result in less XP
  • Fixed the “buy <item>” command to work with the new flexible loadout system. The command will now find the named item in your loadout instead of assuming a default slot. If the named item isn’t in your loadout, the command will fail. To buy by slot, use “buy secondary0”, “buy midtier1”, “buy rifle2”, etc. instead
  • Various tweaks to automatic sniper rifle muzzle flashes
  • Various tweaks to glass impact effects
  • Added sort options to the secondary inventory select panel for actions like applying stickers
  • Fixed a bug where users in Germany were incorrectly identified as users in China

The 10/4/2023 update for Counter-Strike 2 is available on PC via Steam.
