Director Michael B Jordan has confirmed that there are plans to further expand the Creed-verse, including through the release of Creed 4 and potential spinoffs after the release on Creed 3.
Creed 4 and the Expansion of the Creed-Verse
Michael B Jordan confirmed doing the IGNFanFest that there are indeed plans in place to tell more stories in the “Creed-verse,” the series of films that includes the first three films in the Creed spinoff series. The series is itself a spinoff of the iconic Rocky film franchise, which began in 1976 with the release of the original film starring Sylvester Stallone.
Creed follows Adonis Creed, the son of Rocky Balboa’s rival and friend Apollo Creed, as he aims to build a name for himself in the boxing world under the tutelage of Rocky.
Michael B Jordan has starred as Adonis Creed since the release of the first film in 2015; the next upcoming film in the series, Creed 3, will be Jordan’s directional debut, and he will work alongside writer Ryan Coogler, who is also famous for his work on the Black Panther films.
It follows Creed as he faces off against his childhood friend Damien “Dame” Anderson (Jonathan Majors), who after being released from a prison sentence seeks to challenge Adonis for the title he feels he deserves.
Tessa Thompson will also reprise her role as Bianca.
Michael B Jordan confirmed that Creed 4 is definitely on the table, but did not provide any specific release date details. It is likely still in early development.
“I just want to expand the Creed-verse within reason, but definitely expect other things around Creed for sure,” Jordan said in a statement.
Creed 3 will be released in theaters in IMAX on March 3, 2023. For more of the latest news on Creed 3 and other upcoming films, please be sure to keep reading The Nerd Stash!
