Critical Role and Dark Horse are teaming up again to give The Mighty Nein a second artbook. The popular D&D streaming show is putting the heroes of its second campaign back in the spotlight. The upcoming Critical Role: The Chronicles of Exandria – The Mighty Nein Part Two joins its part one counterpart to finish out The Mighty Nein story. This new endeavor brings together over 300 pages of art, narrative, and lore for fans to dig through. It comes in collaboration between Dark Horse and the cast of Critical Role, as well as the Critter artist community. The hardcover book features writing from Critical Role’s Lorekeeper Dani Carr and is expected this November.
Critical Role’s second campaign followed the band of adventurers known as The Mighty Nein. Part One of the artbook delved into the first half of the group’s adventures in Exandria, including humble beginnings and harrowing battles. Now, Part Two will continue those adventures through exclusive art, lore, and narrative from the cast and community. It picks up with The Mighty Nein campaign making their way through the region of Xhorhas. It then follows the campaign as the group travels the world of Exandria. Fans can expect to see the group’s encounters with the Kryn and the Bright Queen, discoveries at the Cinderrest Sanctum, and within the belly of a Behemoth.
The artbook will share the story of the second campaign through glorious art from the Critter community. It will also offer bits of narrative lore from Dani Carr, as well as the cast themselves. This includes Matthew Mercer, Liam O’Brien, Sam Riegel, Taliesin Jaffe, Marisha Ray, Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, and Travis Willingham.
Critical Role And The Lorekeeper
Critical Role Lorekeeper Dani Carr shared a bit more about the upcoming art book and what it means to write such a piece of the show’s ever-expanding history. She shared that the entire book is a “love letter to The Mighty Nein.” It is also a love letter from Carr to the cast of Critical Role, who have “placed such faith and trust in [Carr] over the years.” So, it is a treat to get to guide readers back through the adventures of The Mighty Nein and to see Exandria in a new way.
Critical Role: The Chronicles of Exandria – The Mighty Nein Part Two is available on 11/26.
