While out at a pub in Florida, a mother witnessed a confrontation between two customers, one of whom was Cuban. The argument got started after one of the customers made a big deal out of the Cuban man speaking Spanish to his wife.
TikTok user Langley2002_, Chistina, recorded the heated exchange as a fight nearly broke out between the two at a Beef O’Brady’s restaurant. The Cuban man is heard saying, “This is an establishment! People are having fun! Let’s go outside, if you don’t like my Spanish. I’m Cuban!”
The Cuban man continues to point his finger in the man’s direction, telling him “Let’s go do it” and urging him to come outside so he can fight him. He points out, “I’m an American, too, you [expletive]!” Then he walks to the door and beckons to the other customer some more and calling him out for his cowardice.
Eventually, the Cuban man returns to the bar, but not before calling the customer a “racist.” The Cuban man’s wife then butts in and states, “You’re having a problem with me and him saying stuff to me in Spanish. How do you want my husband to respond?” The Cuban couple are asked to leave, with the husband offering one last opportunity to tango with the customer outside.
Viewers call out the customer for being racist
Given the situation, viewers overwhelmingly took the side of the Cuban man and his wife. Some were keen on dunking on the customer’s character.
“Racist people are tuff until they get pressed,” said one commenter. And it showed. As soon as the husband challenged the customer, he did nothing about it. One viewer connected this to the MAGA movement, saying, “MAGA talks shit till its time to get down!! Then silence!!!!” This started a debate on who was more racist—conservatives or liberals.
Another commenter cheered on the Cuban man, saying, “Speak Spanish LOUD and PROUD.”
A viewer especially took offence to how the couple were treated. In the comments, they wondered, “Why is she telling the Cuban guy to leave instead of the racist guy?” Some in the comments suggested the restaurant was racist as well.
It’s clear by the response, people weren’t too happy by the blatant racism. The couple were talking amongst themselves, in a language of their choosing.
