Let’s be honest, it’s no secret at this point that Devolver Digital titles always have a certain style to them. Whether it be a Mario Party battle royale, a banana-based sidescrolling shooter or even an asynchronous Indiana Jones adventure, nearly every Devolver Digital game excels in not just uniqueness, but passion as well. As Gamescom Opening Night Live happened today though, Devolver was ready to surprise with yet another unique indie title. Cult of the Lamb, a roguelike from Massive Monsters where you play as a satanic sheep, will launch in 2022 on both PC and Console platforms.
The Cult of the Lamb trailer description describes the game as follows
Cult of the Lamb casts players in the role of a possessed lamb saved from annihilation by an ominous stranger, and must repay their debt by building a loyal following in his name. Start your own cult in a land of false prophets, venturing out into diverse and mysterious regions to build a loyal community of woodland worshippers and spread your Word to become the one true cult. Collect and use resources to build new structures, perform dark rituals to appease the gods, and give sermons to reinforce the faith of your flock.
Explore a sprawling, randomly generated world, fight off hordes of enemies and defeat rival cult leaders in order to absorb their power and assert your cult’s dominance.”
Yeah, not what you’d expect from a game about a sheep, is it? Cult of the Lamb is the third title from Massive Monsters following their previous two adventure platforms. As one of the two titles, Never Give Up, did offer plenty of guts and gore though, it seems their next installment wants to bring that same vibe in a new form.
Cult of the Lamb will release next year for both PC and console platforms. You can find more details about the game over on the official site.
