Your wedding day is supposed to be one of the best days of your life — if not the best — but that wasn’t the case for a California couple. Their wedding was ruined after a cunning wedding crasher sneaked in and stole a huge amount of money. The cameras at the venue caught the thief getting inside the wedding from the front doors. He then spent two hours there, where he chatted with guests and a bartender to fit in. Once everyone was dancing and not really focusing, he took a gift box filled with money and fled. According to the couple, the box had around $80,000 to $100,000 inside it that were made up of cash and checks. Other new publications reported that the money was just around $60,000. It is still a lot. Imagine losing this amount of money after people who care about you and love you gathered them to make your day.
According to CBS News, the California wedding crasher was with someone else. There was a car parked in the alley behind the venue waiting for him. “He grabbed the box, the getaway car opened the front door for him, he ran right in, closed the door and they drove off,” the husband said. The couple also felt sad that they won’t get to read the messages left for them along with the cash. That’s just terrible. Currently, the police are investigating the whole situation and they are treating it as grand theft. With the kind of planning the thief had done, this might not be his first time doing this. Hopefully, he and his accomplice will be caught soon, and the money will be returned to the innocent couple. These people ruined a special day as the bride was also left in tears.
People Reacting to the California Wedding Crasher
A lot of people were upset by what the California wedding crasher did and they felt bad for the couple. There were some people, though, who thought that this kind of theft was smart. “Found my new gig,” one person jokingly wrote. Another person also said, “To be honest with you, that’s genius.” What happened to being against thieves? Someone else was shocked at the amount of money the couple received as a gift. “80k-100k is an insane amount of money they were gifted,” they wrote. I mean they won’t get to enjoy this insane amount anymore. There was also one person who found it weird that this amount of money wasn’t protected by anyone. “80 000‼!??? In cash in a BOX!? & no one was watching it?” they asked in disbelief.
Some people also believed that the California thief had an agreement with someone at the wedding. “It’s an inside job someone there knew there was lots lots of money a told somone to come get it,” one person wrote. That might be possible, but the guy could be simply going to weddings in general and seeing if there is anything he could steal. Another person then joked and said, “You see, this is why I don’t bring gifts to the wedding.” Yeah, that must be the real reason, buddy. A wedding planner also shared their opinion. “As a wedding planner/coordinator, I always make sure that the card/money box is always where I can see it. If dinner has end and dancing has started, i keep it with me and give to the couple after the party,” they wrote. This is what should have happened, but it’s too late now.
