The Delicious Last Course, Cuphead’s DLC, was released after all the pandemic-related delays. The list of additional bosses in the game expands along with the addition of new weapons, players, and locales. The courageous playable character Ms. Chalice has finally arrived on the new Inkwell Isle to join Cuphead and Mugman. There is some excitement in defeating them as new bosses become more formidable. One of these fascinating bosses that will present you with a difficult task is Esther Winchester. Let’s look at some methods to defeat Esther Winchester in the Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course.
Defeating Esther Winchester in Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course
Phase 1
To defeat Cuphead’s Esther Winchester in this phase, players need to guide the flow of the battle. Too many missiles are coming at you from the flying donkeys’ spiky balls. Shoot them down when you spot them coming in from the right side.
Regularly, the prospector eagle will fly over the top of the screen and drop a package of explosives. To avoid running into them, you should stay away from the stage’s top strip. The dynamite may also be avoided by squeezing into the bottom left corner of the screen if the bottom is clear.
Additionally, be cautious of snake oil shoots and avoid being on the same side of the screen as Esther when she uses her lasso. If she is at the top half of the screen when she takes her lasso out, drop to the bottom and vice versa.
Phase 2
Holding down the shoot button while focusing solely on your character is the best course of action once Esther takes out the vacuum. Put all your focus on avoiding the objects headed for her vacuum. Don’t even glance at Esther. You can’t miss her in this phase.
Avoid standing too near the edge of the screen, as doing so increases the likelihood that something may enter the screen and hit you. Stay close to the middle instead.
You should shoot Esther as soon as she sends safes out of her vacuum. As soon as that occurs, transform your plane into a smaller version (by continuing to hold down the dodge button) and concentrate on avoiding the objects on the screen. Esther will suck the items back in when they have all taken flight. So keep doing what you did before.
You will likely end the phase before she can fire the safes again. One thing to keep in mind is that some tradeable things will be present when the safes burst. This may be a nice opportunity to parry if you’re hunting for anything, but if it’s one of the coins, you’re probably better off ignoring them.
Phase 3
Cuphead’s Esther Winchester will shoot steaks your way during this phase. The steak’s behavior follows an unusual pattern. They will glide at you while making little loops. Therefore, if you pass one but remain too close, they will undoubtedly loop around and strike you in the back. Gaining some separation from them is essential to prevent this from happening. Watch carefully for that pink meat since some steaks will be parryable.
The bean cans that are hovering above you will be another problem. One end will have a propeller, and the other will be open. If you fly over the open area, the beans will create a small ladder and stretch to strike you, so try to stay on the side with the propeller. With the Smoke Bomb charm equipped, you can blow through the line of beans. Although it is usually best not to rely on this, you can use it if you find yourself in a bind.
Just shoot Esther while you are dodging the steak and beans. Despite switching between running and flying, she never leaves the right side of the screen. To bomb her, switch to your backup weapon. You should have no trouble getting rid of her if you concentrate on avoiding the beans and the steaks.
Phase 4
Two strings of sausage will move vertically and laterally across the screen. They frequently converge in the middle of the screen. You’ll have to maneuver around them using the missing sausage strings. You will also be shooting Esther the entire time.
Esther will also use a spread shot pattern to fire pepper grenades in your direction. A large portion of these will be parryable. These peppers will be your last chance to get any parries if you are vying for an S rank. You can ultimately defeat Cuphead’s Esther Winchester if you keep firing at her while dodging the peppers and sausage strings.
It’s crucial to remember that the Smoke Bomb charm will be pretty helpful in this part. Use the dash button to activate the invincibility frames each time you go through a string. The Smoke Bomb will be a lifesaver.
