The year is finally coming to a close with many new and upcoming releases still filling the stockings of many gamers this holiday season. Despite the ongoing pandemic affecting all aspects of life, including game development, this year has been a host to many delays and cancellations. Not only in film, but many video games have changed their release dates and delayed their publishing date to continue working through the harsh conditions of the pandemic. From big companies like CD Projekt Red and even 343 Studios, game development is quite rigorous with the new restrictions. When it comes to smaller development companies like Studio MDHR, the reality of meeting a 2020 deadline is becoming more difficult. After the initial delay last year, it seems that the DLC might fall victim to the same fate. Published in a tweet, Studio MDHR has announced their decision to delay Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course to 2021.
In the wake of the ongoing global pandemic affecting so many, we have made the difficult decision to push back the release of The Delicious Last Course. For our wonderful Cuphead community, we've prepared a letter from Studio MDHR founders Chad & Jared Moldenhauer to share more. pic.twitter.com/XiU57Wcn1y

Despite online errors confusing fans in July on the availability of the DLC, it seems that we will have to wait for some time to see the next chapter in Cuphead’s journey. While the new Delicious Last Course DLC was announced 2 years ago, fans were excited to see what the future brought for Cuphead’s arcade playstyle. With a clever teaser trailer and a brand new character, the addition would surely have quenched the thirst for harder run and shoot platformers. In the tweet, Studio MDHR discusses how the work on music, design and even animation has been difficult to make progress on. Ending with a promise to fans that next year will hopefully showcase what the next expansion in Cuphead has to offer. While there’s still an ambiguous year release time window hanging over Cuphead fans, it’s better than waiting for nothing at the end of this year. MDHR has also brought Cuphead to the PS4 console finally allowing all console players to enjoy the Cuphead experience. With the DLC planned to release on all platforms as well, keep an eye out on the site for when more Cuphead updates roll through next year.
