Mama June’s Past Could Cost Her Custody Of Ann’s Daughter
Well, this didn’t take long. Anna Cardwell passed away a little over a week ago following her 10-month battle with stage four cancer. Immediately following Anna’s memorial, the news broke that Mama June Shannon would be taking custody of Ann’s oldest daughter, Kaitlyn Cardwell, with Ann’s ex-husband, Michael Cardwell, taking custody of Kylee.
Anna Cardwell’s fans were distraught to hear that the sisters were to be split up. They are also concerned about Mama June Shannon taking custody of Kaitlyn. They feel considering June’s very public history with drugs and dysfunctional relationships with her daughters. She was not exactly the best choice.
Michael Cardwell also agrees. He has since filed a lawsuit against Anna Cardwell’s mother, Mama June, fighting for custody of Kaitlyn Cardwell. Michael claims he would be the better parental choice for many reasons. The Sun writes that Michael says that even after his divorce from Anna, he maintained a loving relationship with Kaitlyn and wants to raise both of Anna’s daughters together.
Anna Considered Michael Father to Both Daughters
Anna Cardwell always considered Michael Cardwell a father to both daughters and often stated so in her Vlogs. The Ashley reports that Michael does not feel that Mama June Shannon is an appropriate caretaker for Kaitlyn. The court docs detail that June and Anna were estranged for many years and only recently reunited following Anna’s cancer diagnosis.
Michael claims he is the only father and parent Kaitlyn has ever known besides Anna Cardwell. He also lives in Georgia near Mama June and is engaged to be married. So he could provide a proper family life for both girls.
The custody suit is becoming a widespread discussion on Reddit. Fans agree that Michael Cardwell would be the better parent in this situation. They also feel that Anna would want her daughters to stay together. They add that they think June is taking advantage of this sad situation to benefit herself. Anna Cardwell’s daughters have been through a lot already, and it is unfortunate to see them have to deal with any more pain. But fans have a feeling that Mama June is going to fight Michael Cardwell on this one. Wonder if fans will be seeing this during a future season of Mama June: Family Crisis?
