Dan Kopelman, known for his work as a producer for Malcolm in the Middle and True Jackson, VP has officially announced that a new comedy film titled Book Club is in the works at CBS. Kopelman will once again team up with fellow producer Susanna Wolff to tell the story of a group of women who find solidarity in each other and discover an ancient tome that gives them mysterious powers.
Written by Kopelman and Wolff, Book Club will follow a group of “dispirited women” who form a book club and find strength and solidarity within each other, coming together to read a mysterious ancient spellbook that gives them magical powers – unfortunately, according to Deadline, “the powers are all the last ones they would ever choose.”
Along with acting as showrunners, Dan Kopelman and Susanna Wolff will also executive produce the single-camera comedy along with Aaron Kaplan and Melanie Frankel for Kapital Entertainment and Wendi Trilling for TrillTV, with the film being produced by CBS Studios.
