Dancing With The Stars fans are not happy about the judging during Season 33. After several weeks of competition, some viewers are speaking out about longtime judge Carrie Ann Inaba‘s scoring and behavior. Particularly toward the female contestants. Things went from bad to worse when Inaba scored Olympian Ilona Maher and actress Chandler Kinney lower scores after her fellow judges Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough praised the women for their Halloween routines.
The Blast reports that Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli both awarded Chandler Kinney perfect 10s for her routine. However, Carrie Ann Inaba was booed after giving the dance a nine. Inaba defended her decision by claiming she didn’t believe the routine “wasn’t perfection” despite the difficult choreography.
The only female judge on the panel also went on to score Ilona Maher’s dance an eight after it also included intricate moves. However, she did dole out perfect scores to others who performed less complex routines. Following the episode, fans began to speak out about Inaba’s alleged bias toward female contestants.
“This has been happening for YEARS and every season she comes back! I don’t think she’s going anywhere! But this season has been getting a lot of attention online especially her comments from last week, so if this continues then yeah it could be a possibility!” one fan wrote via Reddit.
Carrie Ann Inaba Angers Dancing With The Stars Fans With ‘Biased’ Scoring
“She is biased, but she has the right to be as a judge. It could be time to shake things up,” another stated.
It was previously reported that the fans aren’t the only ones left scratching their heads by Carrie Ann’s scoring and comments to some of the contestants. The Sun reveals that her fellow judges, Bruno and Derek, are getting tired of not being on the same page as the former dancer.
”Her time seems to be up, I think it’s only a matter time before the show pulls the trigger and brings in someone who the audience is excited about,” an insider dished. “Bruno and Derek love Carrie Ann but they haven’t been on the same page as her all season. It’s been frustrating for them to try to play off her unpredictable behavior.”
Inaba has been judging the show for 19 years. However, it could all come crashing down if the fans and possibly her fellow judges get their way. Sources tell the outlet that Carrie Ann doesn’t fit in like she once did. Despite still being beloved behind the scenes, something is off.
Rumors are flying that former professional dancer, Mark Ballas, could be up to possibly replace Inaba if she were to be given the axe. Meanwhile, he could also just be added as a fourth judge. However, cutting Carrie Ann without another female judge in tow may also raise eyebrows. There are plenty of former pros, such as Cheryl Burke and Sharna Burgess, who could also fit the bill as judge.
Carrie Ann Inaba hasn’t publicly spoken out about the rumors that fans want her gone from the show. However, she knows she has a target on her back. She’s stated on her Instagram story that she she judges what she sees from her “perspective.” She also admitted that if she conformed she would have “zero value as a judge,” per The US Sun. She claimed she could handle the criticism, and encouraged fans to vote for their favorites.
