Darcey and Stacey fans had their say when it came to Stacey Silva’s wedding to Florian Sukaj, and it wasn’t all positive. Stacey and her husband Florian have been married for almost three years to the surprise of most, who believe that the wedding should never have happened in the first place.
Further surprising fans, the couple, who struggled to have a wedding in 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic decided to have a proper wedding in 2022. This time, the TLC cameras were on hand to capture every bit of it, including the drama and sweet moments. While the wedding eventually pulled through a second time, it beats the imagination to fathom how that came to be given Florian’s many red flags. And with good reasons.
Aside from the obvious issues of infidelity leading fans to believe the love was one-sided, Florian displayed another red flag, a disturbing need for control, on their bachelor/bachelorette night, finally triggering a confrontational reaction from the usually enduring Stacey. Surely that should have been enough to sabotage their second wedding, but as fans know, the two are still happily married, looking to mark yet another anniversary.
Florian Invited Georgi Rusev To The Wedding
Things didn’t end well between Stacey’s twin sister Darcey and her ex Georgi Rusev, whom she dated for about two years. Hence, when Florian decided to overlook the bad blood between Georgi and his sister-in-law and invite his pal to the wedding, the twins, and several fans, tagged his actions as self-centered. A fan, Xolie Mafi, commented on TLC‘s YouTube channel,
“Why would Florian think inviting the ex-fiance would be a good idea ..It’s like he doesn’t want to do this whole renewal and just sabotaging it by pissing everyone off.”
After several back-and-forths, Darcey and Stacey reluctantly let Florian Sukaj have his way, and make Georgi his best man. However, Georgi didn’t let his presence pan out uneventfully. Contrariwise, he spent the duration of their New York stay trying to win back his ex Darcey despite her refusal. His adamance led to a physical altercation between him and the twins’ friend Michael Benz, which Stacey described as her worst nightmare.
Florian Dismissed Stacey At Their Bachelor/Bachelorette
While a bride breaking down at her bachelorette isn’t a sight many would want to behold, Florian seemed unfazed when Stacey broke down, while confronting him about the repercussions of his insistence on inviting Georgi. She also called him out for continuing to defend Georgi and “sugar-coating his actions” even to her own detriment. Baring her heart, Stacey admitted she just wanted her husband by her side on that special day, rather than have him chasing after Georgi at every turn. Airing her grievances, she shared:
“He’s just trying to protect his friend and not his wife.”
Further worsening the issue, when Stacey revealed the previous night’s fight made her traumatized, rather than comfort his wife, Florian chose to exert his dominance, blaming the spat on Michael.
Florian Insisted On Imposing His Rules On Stacey
Another incident that unraveled ahead of Darcey and Stacey stars‘ second wedding was Florian Sukaj’s unruly bid to dictate his wife’s affairs. During their bachelor/bachelorette, Stacey tried joining her sister Darcey to dance on the stripper pole in their party bus. However, Florian Sukaj blatantly refused. By morning, the bride brought it up again with her husband, letting him know she did not appreciate him making her feel she could not enjoy her life. But Florian remained unflinching. His reasoning threw viewers off completely as he said in a confessional:
“For me, I love my wife but this is my rule. I’m the husband. Stacey’s supposed to listen to me.”
A mortified Stacey had it to her neck, eventually tossing her engagement ring back to Florian, and asking him to leave. Interestingly, Florian’s grasp for control did not elude Stacey’s friends. During a spa session, the women brought up Florian’s controlling behavior, and after a soulful discussion, Stacey made the decision not to let Florian make her feel less of herself.
Darcey And Stacey Florian Showed No Remorse
Upon returning to Connecticut following news of the twins’ dad, Mike Silva’s declining health, Stacey resolved to forfeit New York and bring her wedding to Connecticut for better proximity to her dad. That meant employing a new wedding planner and making sure Florian knew she was no pushover. She told her husband that as they put New York behind them, she hoped they never had a repeat of what transpired in the state, adding:
“You were being controlling, you were dismissive, I couldn’t be myself, you were shutting me down, I couldn’t be free to speak and be me.”
Rather than act on his wife’s concerns, Florian gave another dismissive response, saying:
“But the fun have limit.”
Just when it seemed their marriage was hanging by a thread, Stacey opted to seek out a marriage counselor. But an unrepentant Florian nearly blew that as well. When she relayed her intention to attend premarital counseling, Florian offered a horrifying response, saying:
“I’m not going to change. I’m like this. I’m going to die like this.”
Marriage Therapy Saved The Day
In the end, Stacey tricked Florian into meeting with their new wedding officiant, Morris, who also doubled as a marriage counselor. Under the pretense of meeting an officiant, Stacey got Florian to attend the therapy session, where she revealed the biggest problem in their marriage was communication. It seems her deception paid off, as by the end of the session, Florian Sukaj seemed more grounded, even vowing to change his behavior and treat Stacey with more respect, before millions of Darcey and Stacey viewers. But fans aren’t having that.
Many believe Florian’s excesses and all the red flags exhibited so far were proof he wasn’t in the marriage for love. Aside from his past cheating scandals and unwillingness to get a job and discontinue living off his wife, his latest display of controlling behavior amid their wedding preparations is the tip of the iceberg. So far, several fans have expressed displeasure at the thought that the two are still together, longer than most predicted. This leaves a possibility that Florian was really into his wife, and not merely after financial gains or an American visa as most fans have speculated.
