Not many superhero movies or shows are more synonymous with something more than Daredevil was for its hallway scenes that were seen in the Netflix series and his return in She-Hulk. Daredevil stuntman Chris Brewster talked with SlashFilm about outdoing those iconic one-shots (or edited together to look like one-shots) for Born Again, the 18-episode Disney+ series that was announced earlier in the year.
Netflix had its Marvel shows with the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Ironfist, and the team-up series, The Defenders. As the shows slowly died off, Brewster had an idea for a season 4 of the Charlie Cox series before getting axed. He had notes for the “most epic oner in history.” He confirmed that he still has those notes and is hoping to use the idea for Born Again.
“Back when we thought that Netflix Marvel was going to be doing season 4, I had put together literally the most epic oner in history. I still have it in a notebook. I’ve got every detail from the camera movements to the choreography to wire gags that are literally pre-placed and everything and, hopefully, it works out [for] Daredevil: Born Again.”
Daredevil stuntman idea for Born Again to rival Netflix Series hallway scenes
Various one-shot fight scenes were filmed in the Netflix Daredevil series that the stuntman helped create. In season one, there might have been the most famous as Matt Murdock is only the Man in Black before he wears the red Devil costume. Season 2 had its epic fight down a stairwell. Then, season 3 topped the predecessors with a prison sequence that lasted 10 minutes and 43 seconds.
She-Hulk had two episodes that featured Cox. In the first, we got a heavy dose of both Matt Murdock and Daredevil, including an entry of the roster of hallway scenes. A blue-lit fight sequence showed him in action that matched the previous show while showing some differences in style. It ends as She-Hulk breaks in to crush some baddies.
Knowing the stuntman is thinking about what’s to come for Daredevil: Born Again is exciting for fans. Some worry has grown about how it will differ from the Netflix show’s brutality and darkness. Born Again is the same name as the comic, which is one of the character’s darker stories that inspired season 3 of the original series. It hits Disney+ in 2024, so fans will need to be patient to see how it pans out.
