Something that many die hard Stephen King fans thought would never happen has just occurred; The Dark Tower film has begun filming. For those, like myself, who were completely unaware that the movie had even been greenlit here is the scoop.
The film is simply titled The Dark Tower and is being produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment. It is unknown if the film is intended to be the first in a series, but what is known is that this film is set to adapt the first book of the Dark Tower books; The Gunslinger. The Dark Tower series is considered by many, including King, to be his Magnum Opus. (If you haven’t read it and you are a fan of Stephen King give it a read. It is an epic work that combines much which is strewn throughout his body of works.)

The Dark Tower is being directed by Nikolaj Arcel and is set to be released January 13, 2017. Roland Deschain will be played by Idris Elba and The Man in Black is being portrayed by Matthew McConaughey. Additionally, Abbey Lee (of Mad Max Fury Road fame) will be portraying a mysterious female character named Tirana while Jackie Earle Haley will be assuming the role of Sayre.
